The Open Mouth That Offers Up Nothing | Symposium

Coinciding with an immersive audio-visual installation The Open Mouth That Offers Up Nothing which attempts to visualise and simulate the physical and psychological traits of living with a stammer might be, this stammering and art symposium event aimed to address how artistic practice might be linked to increased perception and understanding of what a stammer is.

The symposium speakers are all people who stammer. The speakers provided an insight into their own personal experiences of stammering, whilst also reflecting on their own personal practices, research, expertise and efforts to develop awareness around this speech impediment. From this, with participation from the audience, we may be able to reach a point where are able to offer solutions and opportunities for the attendees of the event to participate an education of the wider population to increase the awareness of stammering, as well as broaden the scope for future artistic endeavours to come to fruition concerning stammering.

With thanks to the speakers and all those who supported the event.
